well..
It's been some time now hasn't it?
I won't go into the 'update' of bringing you all up to speed. Just enjoy this rant of a blog post..
I'm realizing there is a difference between me and some other people.. I know this is something you learn in pre-school, but really. I think my family might be a little different.
I've always been the 'sassy' one, I grew up saying "I was the mean one." It was a joke in passing but lets be honest, we all knew it was true. For some time it may have effected my adolescence and made some what of a mean person who had some deep emotional issues.. But lets move on.
My sister "the nice one", is really not all that different, She will set people straight all the same and tell people off just as good as any of us. But there is something about her that keeps people coming back 'needing' her grace and acceptance. A true form of grace is someone who will always accept you, love you and forgive you. She rarely holds grudges and always sees the best in people.
Here is where we are different.
She didn't start out as firm and rough around the edges like I did. So my track history isn't going to yield such grace.
What she has is special and a gift, the fact that she can correct you and love you and you feel no judgement from her is a true mirror of Yeshua. I don't envy this gift.. It seems beautiful and horribly difficult all at the same time.
Me on the other hand...
I have been sat down in intervention to list the ways that I am mean, intimidating and straight out scary. I have walked by a teenager who has fearfully clung to her mothers arm until my passing, I have smiled graciously at the old man who asks "how can you worship God with a haircut like that". As if my outer appearance has any affect on the righteous, graceful, just God surrounding us.
I am not afraid of confrontation. Which I'm sure you could've guessed. If you come at me with a bad attitude be prepared to be corrected. I am not your punching bag, I am not your worker.
Do not bring your attitude into my space unless you want to be sent home. Do not gossip and sin outright in my presence if you do not want to be called out on it. Do not sit high and mighty on your tall horse unless you are prepared to get knocked off.
This is not because I am mean, this is not because I don't like you, this is not because I am better than you.
I am scrubbing the floors, hands and knees right next to you. I am tired, I am weak and I am hurt too. It is ROUGH being the bad guy. It is not easy. You have to learn to be disliked, judged and gossiped about. You learn to brush the haters off , cause haters gonna hate (holla atcha girl).
You learn to be an introvert because anyone who you might want to be friends with is scared or mad at you for some reason anyways.
But you also learn what true friends are, the ones who love you despite your scary intimidating ass and will watch movies with, eat with and be weird with you despite it all.
To the realization that I might be different..
We have been through a lot lately and seeing how different people deal with things..well...differently.
It's not easy being the bad guy when you aren't normally the bad guy.
When you aren't normally a threat, or judged and gossiped about. I can't imagine suddenly becoming the bad guy and categorized with people like myself, going from well liked, easy going, non-listening ears to suddenly the complete opposite.
How do you handle such a drastic life change? Will you always be a bad guy? Will you always be judged and intimidating?
Where does the madness end?!
The struggle is real. it's not easy being the bad guy.

Why I'm not a feminist....feminist.
feminist
[fem-uh-nist]
1.
the real right to choose (pro-choice)
Every day I read a new article of some young, empowered, successful woman claiming to be a feminist.
Let me remind you the days that we live in. There is no war on women going on, there is no doubt that as a woman I have rights, rights to vote, rights to say no, rights to say yes. As women we have the choice to work, to stay home, to travel, to wander, to dream, to dream BIG, to be a CEO of the biggest dating site, makeup company, car manufacturer or to simply help other women through the journey that is birth.
To the women growing along side of me in my generation, what. are. you. fighting. for?
I had the pleasure of seeing Gina Davis speak at a small get together about her work, fighting for women in the film industry.
Her point didn't bash men, didn't degrade them therefore stooping to the level of anti-women mindsets. (which in case you didn't know...aren't ALL men). Instead she rises above her fellow celebrity 'feminists' and is a voice for women in the film industry. She helps especially with young television and big picture movies by showing them characters they have already created can be turned into female roles. Allowing a young female star to rise to fame, allowing gender to NOT be an issue.
Lena Dunham 'the voice of my generation', I support you sister, more power to you for slapping negative body image in the face, I commend you. Mainly for the adorable dresses you choose to wear on GIRLS. But as 'feminist' feminist as you are, I find it extremely degrading the amount of sexual activity you promote in your TV show. The women on your show are virtually useless unless it has to do with sex. Mind you, I am not up to date, I couldn't get passed the first season before I decided even watching the show I found myself degraded.
More power to women to be comfortable in their own skin, but why does the comfort with my own skin have to mean giving it away like a cow being milked at Borden Dairy. Herded down New York City streets just to catch the eye of the cute barista who you later end up in bed with.
Lena Dunham isn't this the complete opposite of how we want our young girls to feel?
I want my daughter to feel empowered, confident and secure in her own body, not to the point of selling it for a kiss. She will be empowered to walk by that cute boy and not look back, because she is precious, she is preserved and saved for someone SO much better. For that someone who will treat her better than any woman who has the right to choose so she chose to give it away. She will be protected, treasured and kept hidden like the most expensive jewel that she is.
Don't we want our young girls to be empowered to say NO, to protect herself and make the men in her life LISTEN to her and not just look at her like a piece of meat?
I am not a feminist....feminist.
I believe we have the right to vote, to speak up and be opinionated. I have the right to decide how I walk down the street and the men around me do not have the right to cat call me.
And at the same time, if you choose to not have a career, or be opinionated or speak up that's ok.
It's not wrong for me to CHOOSE to stay home and take care of my children, to prefer the kitchen over a desk, to prefer the sweet smiles, giggles and kisses of my children over the whistles, howls and calls of perverted men on the street.
It's OK to choose my place at home, in the kitchen, with my children.
It's OK for you to choose a career, but don't for the love of women and feminism everywhere do NOT stoop down to the level of anti women by degrading yourself first so that you're not hurt by them or giving your body away so that no one else can take it.

I don't let my kids celebrate halloween.. and you should be ok with it.
As a Mother most of us have instincts to protect, care and comfort our children.
We hold them as they cry, we kiss their booboos, we protect what they hear, see and say.
So why.on.earth. would I encourage my children to be scared?!??
To wear scary costumes, watch scary movies, ask people in scary costumes for candy, embrace ghosts, witches and scary spiders.
Why on earth would I decide that this ONE day is the day to throw our morality to the wind and allow the encouragement of 'scary' things into our homes, our minds, our hearts.
I would be working 364 days to protect my child from these things, but allow it for one day??
What kind of confusion am I bringing upon my small children.
It is shocking to me how many christians or people who 'claim' to be christians celebrate this day with their children. No matter how many years since this holiday was 'originated' in evil..that doesn't change. Just because you think you've 'justified' it, just because you don't do the bad things they did, doesn't change what it stands for.
Halloween, Day of the dead, All hallows eve. Is clearly, factually and historically a day to 'celebrate' the dead.
Why on earth would I encourage my child to celebrate the dead, which would directly go against everything I work towards as a mother and believe. 'Raising my child up in the way that they should go'. Allowing this one day to slip through the cracks no matter how minor, is allowing our children to think we aren't that serious, because we allow the celebration of the dead just this once.
By the time they're 18 and making their own decisions on what they believe, they will remember the 18 times they celebrated the dead, the '18 times my parents allowed evil, scary things come into my mind, and my home.', the 18 times we didn't protect them against these things, the 18 times we willingly allowed the enemy to break down our doors and take advantage of our children.
I plan on being a mother 365 days a year, every day I will protect my children from scary things, every day I will strive to raise my children up in the way that they should go, every day I will hold them, comfort them and kiss their booboos.
What are my kids really missing out on?
There is nothing done on this holiday that you can't do any other day. Instead of asking scary strangers for candy, go to the store yourself, if it's the costumes? You can wear costumes any day!

Tikvah Marie Nelson
I've been wondering how I would put this blog into words without sounding horrible.
So...Excuse me as I type out my thoughts and if you get mad, feel free to unfollow.
When we found out I was pregnant, I was roughly 5-6 weeks along and at 7-8 weeks we lost the baby.
As I've said before there isn't a ton of information you can find online about this, they try their best to be P.C about it so the poor woman actually going through it and googling frantically for symptoms can't accurately tell if she's having a miscarriage without going to the Dr.
Dr's scamming Americans since day 1.
This was obviously heartbreaking, scary and confusing. The frustrating lack of information was eating away at me, the confusion as to why this happened to me and the sadness that went along with it.
I'm the kind of person that wants to know why, how, why, when, and...WHY this happens to people.
That information is unfortunately 'non-exsistent'.
It was harder for me than I let on, I avoided talking about it and dealing with it.
The 'coping' methods that are offered are 'writing a letter to your lost baby', 'naming your lost baby', 'lighting a candle for your lost baby', etc etc.
The emotional pain of losing a baby you had hoped and prayed for, for over a year isn't going to be solved by any of the things listed above. As a mother I became instantly attached to the growing life inside of me, but I didn't know this baby and I know this baby can't read any letter I write, or see any candle that was lit for them. This baby is happily, safely in the arms of someone greater than me. And none of these things would reassure this 'lost baby' or help me.
After a rough 3 months, we found out I was pregnant again. Obviously we were happy and even tho we were overjoyed, I couldn't help but have fear in my mind regarding the outcome of this pregnancy.
After weeks of blood tests and ultrasounds it was confirmed this babe was the one we were waiting for.
Almost immediately after confirming the pregnancy being the one, the prophetic and confirming words were being spoken over her.
The joy and delight of this little baby coming earthside was so exciting to anticipate, so preparation began to make room for this little babe.
We chose the name Tikvah meaning Hope in Hebrew, mainly because we liked it. But throughout the pregnancy we started to see real meaning behind her name.
She is bringing Hope to the hopeless, Hope for the bitterness, Hope for her generation.
She was born August 1st at 10:29am, after 7 hours of being in labor, she was delivered at home in a birth tub with little to no assistance. It was perfect, almost painless, easy, relaxing homebirth.

you should probably take a look at this. (warning: semi-graphic details ahead)
This is a tough one to write.
I pride myself in being funny even when no one else thinks so. I try to write these blogs about serious things sometimes in an insensitive way to make awkward subjects more comfortable for those of you who want to laugh at such ridiculous parenting and ideals.
So my juggle in my mind is trying to be sensitive about this subject without being too serious and sounding depressed.
So here we go.
Around May 2012 Julien was 2 months from turning 2. The big 2! Hunter and I had discussed even before getting married how many kids we wanted to have, how far apart we 'wanted' them to be and started on our 'family planning' ideas.
So. by this time I was already hoping to have a little babe in the cooker or at least nearing the end of said cooking time.
Unfortunately this was not the case. I know we are both functioning and able to produce as my dad would say 'juicy fruit" (aka children/blessings/fruit from our tree..lol). But it wasn't happening.
As many christians would say "it wasn't God's timing"..which I whole heartedly believed.
Little did we know 6 months later we would be packing up everything we owned and planning the move of a lifetime to Park City Utah. When the decision was made to move it all made sense. It would've been an even bigger pain in the butt to move across country with a tiny new born or being 8 months pregnant right? SO Okay..God had a plan...it wasn't God's timing!
We arrived in beautiful, cold, snowy Park City (another thing a snow newbie wouldn't want to deal with, with a newborn or being pregnant)!
We then put a 'fleece' if you will before the Lord basically saying if we aren't pregnant by the end of the summer we'll look into adoption, which is something we want to do anyways.
So June came...and went. We started really asking the Lord for a lil babe in the cooker and it wasn't happening. My brother and sister came to visit and everyone prayed over me that this would happen..sooner than later.
Well.. 3 weeks later the stick said yes.
You can imagine the joy that filled the family and treehouse, another little babe would add to the chaotic fun.
So trusting in my body to do the good deed we announced it and were over joyed. God had seriously answered prayers and we were pregnant before the end of summer!
The planning began! We would need to move to a house for more room, we needed to find a midwife that would come up the mountain, we needed to see a midwife/dr asap to make sure everything was workin. And it was! The midwife/dr i found was incredible but didn't travel up the mountain :(. She soon became my best and only friend in Utah.
Warning..details ahead!
9 days after the confirmation of pregnancy from said Midwife, I woke up with horrible pain.. Because this isn't a widely open conversation on most blogs i've read..lets get real with each other. Worst than your worst heavy period..that was what was happening to me. So up at 6am I called said Midwife who is the sweetest lady ever known and she had me come in immediately. Which meant in my family and having to travel down the mountain to see her we didn't get there until 11. I called a friend to watch Julien and we rushed down. Stopping twice to use the restroom I knew this was bad. I had passed the baby about 4 1/2 hours into this horrible day.
Unfortunately though I had the feeling this had happened..signs weren't so clear to the midwife, I had to get blood work done and we wouldn't know the final answer til 48 hours later.
The WORST 48 hours of my life. Pain..and other things.. worry and sadness. The worst part is just not knowing what was wrong. should i have hope, should i be sad, should i be happy, should i crawl in a hole and never talk to anyone again?
The results came in and though I was incredibly sad that this had happened I was also relieved. NOT that I lost the sweetest most important thing in life (a child) but that I could stop worrying and I know God knows whats up.
He knows what he's doing, he knew that baby better than I did. And I could cry for a couple more hours, get up out of my dirty pajamas that I wore for 48 hours, and walk in the understand that He knows better than me.
He knows where i'm going, what i'm doing and when the perfect time will be for me.
So announcement made. Baby center updates deleted and another blog for you to read...

Thursdays Thoughts and Rants
I skipped Wednesday to give you guys a break.
First of all my Silver King Coffee girl quit. Therefore I'm paying full price for a cup of milk and the girl that now 'serves me' at the window doesn't know me. Ugh! Good thing it's the original girl who Sarahjane and I thought was named April.. Close but no cigar. Her name is Alexa. She got a new tattoo.
Speaking of Tattoos..i would still like to finish mine to get a new one.
How do people have time and money to constantly be getting tatted Alyssa Hickman, Trevor Michael..I'm confused and jealous.
I can't comment on whats going on in the news lately DOMA, Abortion etc. It's too heavy and I'm sure I would get backlash for my beliefs on either subject. So instead i'm just going to say "Goodnight and Goodluck America" It's all in your hands.
I feel like Moses and I are best friends, I've been studying and making lessons on this guy for the last 5 months. Todays lesson = Moses dies.
It's been real bud.
That moment you regret accepting a friend request or liking a page..get off my newsfeed!
That other moment when you accidentally sync your phone with your facebook contacts..I don't need your number..but i have it. beware of spam.
I get that you need a job and all..but maybe you should do some SERIOUS, EXTENSIVE research on the day care you are sending your children to before you get trapped and you're spending $500 a month on the pledge of allegiance, forced nap time, bad lunch and listening to secular hip hop during playtime.
It's been a good 6 weeks since I've had a bagel...TAKE THAT UTAH!
Have I mentioned how things start considerably earlier here?
I used to drive into work (in dallas) around 7:30 and catch the first half of the Kidd Kraddick show..The only radio station I get here must start at 5am..it's 7:30 and i've missed the funniest parts! #Mountainlife
Speaking of Mountain Life..Nothing like waking up your entire building on a Wednesday night because your water heater is leaking scalding water into the parking garage. 10:30pm maintenance knocks on our door (i didn't even know we had that kind of service!) we waved them past because we certainly weren't leaking water. 10 minutes later maintenance AND our nice neighbor lady from upstairs knocks 'Please check your water heater! There is burning water pouring into the garage!" we check..sure enough it's us. Maintenance comes in, our weird neighbor guys from vermont come into the hallway..we're all in our pajamas, awkward. We've never exchanged anything but a smile in passing and now they're seeing me...in my pajamas..at night.
Our hot water heater is broken and needs to be replaced. yay.. We rent so it's no big deal...but I could've been spared the awkwardness.

My Monday Blues and Thoughts
I know this is seriously off track but here are a 'few' things on my mind this Monday Morning...
(Please beware these are definitely first world problems and I am no way seriously complaining about these things)
My pug has lost her mind, peed in my bed and is now gagging herself on a stuffed elmo toy that we gave up on trying to rescue
I hate that scene in the Amazing SpiderMan when Andrew Garfield is breathing heavily into Emma Stones face while he's sweaty and beat up...you know that doesn't smell good..
I love me some French Press coffee, but making a whole pot of it..by myself..makes me a hyped up caffeinated mama..I need someone to come drink half of this thing.
On top of that, I regret getting rid of my normal coffee cups. As much as I love how these 'vintage tea cups look' they're kind of a pain when you have to refill every other second.
Who decided to build condos in the middle of Heber City and Park City where we can't get any cable or internet?!?!..fml
OK! Who decided it was okay to post pictures of your ailments on facebook? Aint nobody wanna see your bloody knee, eye, messed up feet, broken...anything!
I had a dream I hung out with Cesar Milan on the streets of Africa eating Ice Cream...I think I need to train my dog.
Missing Texas stuff. Joy Luck, Cheap Movies, Friends, Beauty Bar, Downtown Dallas, Black People....just sayin
I don't support Kanye and Kim's decision to name their child something ridiculous..but being a child with a strange name..I feel for them. They're just trying to be original in the sea of celebrity baby names. It's hard to meet the standards of Apple, Jermajesty, Lourdes...etc.
And speaking of names..i know some normal people out there that have no excuse to name their kids weird names.
Twinkie coming back..it's like when you throw a going away party for someone and then a week later they're like '...uh i'm not leaving anymore' what?!?! Waste of time! (Joy Eastman..remember that?! love you!)
I need to finish all my tattoos..so I can get a new one. (hint, hint)
Sarah Thomas, Serah Rudolph, Erin Favella, Julie Hopkins...you all make me want to have another baby...TOMORROW. Stop having cute kids.
My Favorite part of The Amazing SpiderMan...Spiderman launching himself up the side of a building. I want to do that!
I need a haircut.
.....time for more coffee.

Will you be my friend?
Living in a new state with a completely different culture can be difficult.
After living 18 years in the southern hospitality hub and everyone being extremely friendly....it can be difficult.
Being 23 with a toddler and no social outlet such as a job with other young people or daycare or sports or anything...can be difficult.
I read a blog by Motherlode about mommy dating.
Was this my new life?
Was I going to have to enter the dating pool of moms?
Lets keep in mind this isn't Dallas, they aren't extremely friendly and they have one thing in common...they like to excersize and be outside. I come from the land down south where it's too hot to be outside and so you make up indoor activities.. working out is for people who have time and money.
I have neither of those things.
I've gone to parks and smiled at every passing mom hoping one of them would strike a conversation.
But unfortunately..I'm noticing i'm not 6 years old anymore, I can't walk up and say 'wanna be my friend?!" because that's weird.. and you can't just be friends with just 'anyone' right? Because now that we're adults we have to actually have things in common! I don't know if having a child the same age is in 'common' enough.
So the nerd that I am..I turned to the internet.
Meetup.com is my new best friend. (i know it's lame)
I have joined 3 meetup groups. At first I was solely focused on 'moms' because then I could take Julien with me everywhere since..you know.. I do that.
But then I thought 'Moms are weird and I don't want to be stuck with them as my only options and not have any friends for the rest of my life.' (I love you mamas)
So I have joined 2 that have nothing to do with moms and granted they're weird too. But i'm trying right?
I have yet to actually go to any of these Meetups..but....
I know I must sound crazy but my family has instilled this 'social, can't be alone for very long' characteristic in me and i'm just handling it the best way I can.
Stay tuned for my mommy date stories!

Not for the easily offended..
There comes a time when all the crap you read from your friends on facebook really starts to get to you. You so badly want to confront their ridiculous ideas and the fact that they try to force them on their 325 friends on Facebook.
So here is my rebuttal..
Dear people..I let my child watch TV. I know..I'm a horrible mother. I don't believe that his imagination is based solely on wether or not he watches a cartoon or not.
He loves Mickey mouse, Spongebob (oh my gosh) and Spider Man. I know watching tv turns your 'brain into mush' but my siblings and I were all TV heads when we were little...Attention: I do not have mush for a brain! It's amazing right? Because even though Julien watches these tv shows, when the tv is off he's jumping from couches to chairs to bean bags making spiderman noises. When we go to the park his imagination comes to life from the things he's watched on tv. So I honestly don't have a problem with it.
And yes I let my child jump on our furniture. I understand you may not want him jumping on your furniture and thats fine. That is where my parenting for boundaries comes in and I think i'm doing a pretty good job.
I know so and so's kid broke an arm jumping off of something somewhere but why be afraid of life?! People also hurt themselves driving, falling out of bed, sitting in a chair..are you going to stop doing those things too?!
Now, here is the big one. I know I will get backlash for this.
Genesis 17:9-11 9 Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. 10 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. 11 You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you.
Now, if you're not a Christian and you have not made a heart covenant with the Lord to follow him, by all means do what you wanna do.
For those who are Christians I understand that you might want to come back with a lot of scripture saying that it is not 'necessary' for us to do this anymore etc etc.
But I HIGHLY disagree, because as a christian we believe God is the same Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow therefore this detail of His requirements wouldn't have changed.
It's not about humans not being able to 'clean themselves' or be 'happy' because my son who is circumcised IS happy and it's almost...offensive for you to say that he isn't because he has had a procedure. I understand your debate when it comes to 'letting people make their own decisions' etc. but I believe it is my job to raise up my child in the way that he should go, it is my duty until he is of age to make sure he is given to the Lord and is making that covenant with him. When he is older and i've done all that he can do he can make his decisions.
For you to say my Child isn't happy, respected, healthy or secure is offensive. You wouldn't say any of those things to a child that had to undergo a c-section or any other type of surgery that might alter their mind or appearance. SO how dare you say something like that to a child whose parents decided to do a circumcision?!
I understand that it is personal choice and if you choose to not do this for your child I will respect your decisions, so please..respect mine and stop judging me and every other mother out there who has decided on this publicly.
One more thing.. again for the christians.. STOP COMPROMISING! You're driving me nuts! Everytime you wave the trendy flag to support something that if you knew what it was really about you probably wouldn't really support it, it makes me want to delete you from my facebook, email list, cell phone and mind.
It's not just for christians..i take that back it's for everyone. Be yourself, be who you are and stop compromising your personality, ideas, beliefs and way of life just because everyone else on Facebook, twitter, instagram and Tumblr are doing it!
Ok i'm done. Hopefully all of you will stop writing such ridiculous stuff so I won't have to do this again!

Moving up, moving forward and moving on
I lived in Texas for 18 years.
I found and lost 3 best friends.
I met my first boyfriend, my first love, who became my Husband.
I built a friendship with someone that lasted more than 12 years (and going strong).
I married.
I had my son.
I became who I am Today.
It had been 18 years since I had moved states. I was 4 at the time and all I really remember about it was our going away/birthday party for Corin at a park (in LA) before moving, the fact that I got sick on the way and that I lost a roller skate.
This move was obviously different, I was moving my Husband and young child with me, the logistics of it were driving me crazy. Pack up the entire house until literally 4 hours before pulling out of Dallas, plus pack a suitcase with a months worth of clothes because who knows when we'll get our own homes.
45 minutes into the drive My Mom and I got lost..yes before we could even leave Dallas, we ended up in Denton vs. Decatur..easy mistake. :)
Ahead of us was a 3 day trip...1st get out of Texas and into New Mexico, then get out of New Mexico into Colorado, Colorado into Wyoming ultimately to drive through the wind into Utah.
Welcome to the snow covered hills and a whole family (church) waiting for us with banners saying "Welcome home Aguirre family' and ready to help us unload our trucks.
Such a nice warm welcoming party.
Unfortunately our unloading didn't work out as planned, our storage units were too small and it was Sunday we couldn't get a hold of anyone to change our units. So we had to wait a day..which was Presidents day so again the storage office was closed.
A family from the church came to our rescue with their 3 car garage and told us to store our stuff there. :)
Hunter, Julien and I hopped host homes for 3 weeks until we found the perfect 2 bed 2 bath Condo 6 minutes from our church that we attend twice a week and I work at 2-3 times a week. It was necessary to be so close :).
Just a week after we moved in and months of looking for a house for the rest of my family they found the ultimate house. 10 minutes south of me and 15 minutes south of the church, 5 bedrooms, 5,000 sq ft looking over the Heber Valley. BEAUTIFUL views from every window.
It's amazing what God can do with patience, willingness and faith.
Living in a new city is scary, lonely and 100% worth it.
It's a LOT harder to make friends when you're 23 vs. being 4. That whole 'Hi! Lets be friends!" thing..doesn't work anymore, having 1 thing in common doesn't work anymore either.
We're keeping ourselves busy for sure though!
Hunter is working in SLC at H&M and we are also over the Children's and Youth Ministry at the church, which is really fun and I'm having a blast coming up with lessons.
We also are regulars on the worship team, as well as working with Hospitality and the basic runnings of the church.
It's safe to say we're really thriving here, it's exciting to be using the gifts God has given us in practical ways.
Stay tuned for my passover blog which will hopefully come in a timely manner.

Raising a Boy.
First-- I am incredibly blessed to have a little boy, and he's everything I hope and prayed for.
Now.
Raising a boy.
When I found out I was pregnant I 'knew' I was having a girl. So much so that I put money on it! I was SURE that I was having a girl. I always wanted to have a boy first so that all of my children would have that older brother to look up to, to guide and protect them etc. But I just had this feeling...
So when we found out we were having a boy I was....THRILLED!
At the time I was a Nanny of 2 little boys so I thought I could handle it..I was prepared.
But, low and behold my child is the average boy I wasn't quite expecting. Though he takes after me in his taste of music, dance style and wild hair...there are some things in his personality I am a little shocked by.
For example his LOVE of sports (what?!) where did that come from? He can throw a ball and hit his target PERFECTLY from 15-20 feet away. (he's 2)
Left handed and right handed, he's a diamond in the ruff.
Now, I know nothing about sports so as soon as he hits the age to put him in soccer, tball or basketball I'll be learning right along side him. I honestly don't know the difference from a touch down, home run or whatever you get in basketball.
He is also extremely interested in lizards, frogs, snakes and the likes. I'm sure you all think this is completely normal for a little boy (which it is) it's just catching me off guard.
He LOVES animals which I am proud of, I've always loved the zoo too but he takes it to another level. I took him to the zoo last week and he's been talking about it non-stop. I mean he remembers the exact routes we took to see what animals (what!? who is this kid!?).
And don't get me started on the jumping, climbing you think he's about to break a leg jumping that high stuff he's into. he jumps from couch to couch, off the beds, all while running and making sound effects with his mouth. (I love this kid!)
Another Julien trait....he hates mud. If it's raining outside he doesn't want to walk to the car because of the mud, and if I make him anyways because it's not muddy he has to check his shoes as soon as he gets in the car and wipe them off, (hah!) he gets that from his Auntie Xaundelle.
Raising a boy is SO much fun! He is definitely not the boy I thought he would be but he is SO much more! I couldn't have imagined a better kid!

The Nelsons have big news...
We’re leaving Texas and moving to Park City Utah!
In 1994 we (Aguirre’s) were living in Burbank, CA. My Dad (Allan) was going on a 3 month tour and my siblings (Xaundelle and Corin), My Mom and I were going to stay in Waxahachie TX with my Grandparents during that time. Texas not being our favorite place we were hoping it was just temporary.
In early 1994 my Mom (Cristina) received a vision of a white structure. The Lord showed her this structure in both winter and summer and told her that this is where we would live. As my Dad traveled he kept an eye out for this place that she had described. He would call and describe a place that might’ve fit the description only to have her say it wasn’t it.
When my Dad came through Dallas to ‘pick us up’ he stayed a few days and the Lord asked him ‘Where are you going?” my dad said “back home”. The Lord said “you are home..” And proceeded to tell him how he was to build a life for himself in Dallas. After 5 hours of struggling with the Lord he submitted. 2 days later God also spoke to my Mom (Cristina) and convinced her of the same thing.
Around the same time our Pastors from California were Lenny and Linda Perata. They married my Parents and walked with them through some of the hardest times. They also married Hunter and I in 2009! Around the time we decided to stay in Dallas they were moving to Park City Utah, where they had previously pastored a church. We always had a desire to serve along side of them and they invited my Parents to visit in October of 1995.
As they turned off the main highway from Salt Lake City and started entering into Park City, My Mom (Cristina) shouted out, “There it is!” My Dad knew exactly what she was talking about and without looking out the window asked her, “Are you sure?” “Yes”, she said, “I’m absolutely sure”.
They pulled over and proceeded to look at it from every possible way. They asked Lenny “what is this place?’ Lenny told them this was a historical landmark that represented Park City, UT. They continued to tell him about the vision my Mom had in 1994.
As my Parents were leaving Park City Lenny gave them some of the best advice, He told them to ‘Live there.’ in Dallas and not to ‘live here’ emotionally or psychologically. If the Lord was in the vision and if He wanted us to live in Park City, He would see it through.
Over the years us kids grew to know the desire my parents had for Utah, it was something we all would start to pray for. We would visit and continuously pray over the city for the right timing, we would see how the church would grow and shrink, increase and decrease, good times and bad.
We’ve led worship in the church, preached and ministered over the years. It has become a part of our family and ultimately our community.
In August 2012 my parents went on a 3-week speaking tour. Park City UT was their last stop. This visit seemed ‘different’ than so many of the ones before. They described this time as being ‘real’. As my Mom stepped out onto Park City soil she felt as if ‘it was time.’
During their visit Lenny and Linda expressed their desire for our community to come and serve with them.
When my parents returned from their trip they shared with our community (bible study and Shabbat group) how their desire for Utah has grown even more, they shared all the things God spoke to them during that week, how they felt like now was the time, and asked us all to pray with them about timing for any if not all of us to go with them.
Over the next 3 months we were praying for this move, they weren’t just asking for direction for them as a couple (Allan and Cristina) but as a community, which would include Ian and Elysa Hellermann, Xaundelle and Corin, and Hunter, Julien and I.
During this time some of our community members felt a sudden desire to go to Utah. Jacob Dolph, Asa Low and Sarahjane Gribbin started to pray for direction for themselves as well.
Hunter and I spent many days praying and asking the Lord what his desire was for US as a little family. I personally have always seen myself there since this is something I’ve prayed about almost my whole life. Only one thing was keeping all of us from agreeing to go. Our local church we all felt called to and committed to.
In November our Church announced that they would be merging with another local church and would no longer be. Therefore if you felt called to that specific congregation that will be ‘no more’ than you were free to be released.
This was HUGE confirmation for our entire community. At this time Ian and Elysa Hellermann, Jacob Dolph, Asa Low, Sarahjane Gribbin, Hunter, Julien and I committed to go to Utah. This was the final confirmation we needed to make this decision!
My Parents met with our pastors on behalf of our community and we have been released with their blessing to move forward with this move.
We feel the prompting of the Lord to downsize our lives .We are going through each room of the house and deciding what we should sell, giveaway, take, or discard. My Parents didn’t have a car to get to Utah or that was even capable of driving in Utah and on Monday (December 10th) the perfect 4WD vehicle was GIVEN to them! Even MORE confirmation!
We are focusing all our efforts — spiritually, physically and monetarily — on relocating to Park City, UT.
My parents will be leaving for Park City UT, on December 23rd for a job interview my Mom has on December 27th.
Hunter and I currently don’t have a set time we will be leaving, but we all believe we should be there by March 2013.
Our Role:
Hunter and I have a passion for discipleship and for the youth of this generation, we hope to be able to serve the youth group, children’s ministry and the local youth in Park City Utah.
Thank you all for your prayers and support, we are hoping to make this an easy transition.
As you may know moving is not cheap especially to another state. If you feel ever so inclined to help us with our moving costs and would like to make a donation you may do so here.

Thank you!

Coping with my 2 year old...
My name is Saphraine Nelson and I have a 2 year old...
My 2 year old is the prize of my life, I honestly wouldn't be complete without him. I am one of those girls that has wanted children my entire life, I had names picked out for them since I can remember!
I have nannied for numerous families, worked in nurserys since I was like 6 years old..I have ALWAYS wanted children.
But no one prepares you for 2's. They tell you how terrible they are or how great it is because 3 is worst.
I hit rock bottom today.
We aren't 'scheduled' people, we don't have set bedtimes, naptimes, eating times, etc. but lately Julien has been watching 1 episode of super why, dinosaur train, or Sesame street every morning.
This particular morning I let him watch 2 episodes of Go Diego Go (big mistake). When TV time was over and we turned it off he had a complete meltdown.
Coping with my 2 year old..
We distracted him with Voyage of the Dawn Treader (book), that lasted 5 minutes, we tried to take him outside...impossible, we tried to play hide and seek..didn't work..
Coping with my 2 year old...
Finally Sabba to the rescue...
He is finally calm, cool and collected reading a David Bowie book aka looking at picture of David Bowie.
Disagree all you want but around here our kids listen, watch and love David Bowie!

48 hrs with no baby
This past weekend (10/12-14) Hunter and I went to West Texas (San Angelo) for a friend's wedding.
We have been planning this trip for some time and thought since it's right around our 3rd Wedding Anniversary we should go without Julien.
We didn't talk much about it after deciding and even RSVP'd for 2 adults.
The closer it got to the date the more it started weighing on me. This would be my first weekend without Julien, my first weekend without seeing his sweet face, feeding him, running after him, consoling him....what will I do!
Even though I am very attached to my Son I knew I shouldn't back down, I WILL go on this anniversary trip without him and I WILL enjoy my time with my Husband!!
We had planned to leave early Friday morning (the 12th) while Julien was still sleeping, I am not a fan of 'sneaking out' on your children because I think that can cause fear and anxiety. So I explained to him Thursday night that when he woke up Abba and Ima would be 'bye bye' for the weekend''. He burst into tears saying 'bye bye Ima!!' I then had to explain to him that it wasn't until tomorrow and I settled him down to go to sleep.
I woke up super early to drive my brother and sister to the airport, ran errands, came to the house to pick up hunter and low and behold the clutch was going out on his car (the car we were planning on taking).
So I tried to transfer all of our stuff from his car to my car, explain to my parents what was going on and get out of there all before Julien woke up because I knew...If I had to say goodbye to that sweet face I wouldn't have the willpower to leave him.
We made it out just in time!
The first 12 hours were fine, we were having a blast! But when it was time to go to sleep without kissing Julien goodnight and singing him to sleep I got a little sad.
But, no worries, it turned out to be a great weekend for us! We got to talk to Julien first thing Saturday morning and within that 24 hour separation he started to say "yes!" when answering questions (big step for a 2 yr old). We came back Sunday afternoon and he was safe and sound with Sabba and Kiki.
Overall a successful weekend!

Wonderful Two's
Before getting into the blog, I'll give you some back story.
I have loved kids since I was a little tot, I was the one with the baby dolls attached to me at all times, holding the babies in the nursery when I was 8-10 years old. My dream was to be a Mother.
I was a nanny all through my teenage years. 2 little girls 2-4 years old, 2 boys 3-5 years old and then again 2 boys 13mo and 2 yrs for about 9-10 months. I was pretty familiar with 2 yr olds to say the least.
When I found out I was pregnant with Julien and got my mind wrapped around it. I was fully prepared to be a Mother. This is my dream come true, I can totally handle this! I had no doubt I could handle a newborn, a toddler, a child and a teenager.
I was clearly not prepared for THIS Two yr old.
He was on a rampage 'I am independent, I am my own person, and I'm here to show you.'
Being a nanny is so sugar-coated, yes you deal with tantrums, fighting the kid to listen to you even when the mom isn't around....
This is different, this kid is mine...all mine. He knows what buttons to press, what words to say, how exactly to get his way.
We have our good days and our bad days, He can be the sweetest, cuddliest, mama's boy one moment. And screaming, hitting and rampaging the next.
It's quite the adventure around here!
I wouldn't change one thing about it!

8 day count down.
My sweet, little baby boy is almost.....two.
I can feel the tears coming now.
I can't believe these years have gone by SO fast, where has it gone?!
He says a new word almost every day, he's brilliant. ;)
I see him now in a size 4t shirt (it looks like it fits perfectly..i think it's stretchy), How did he grow into that? Just yesterday he was swimming in newborn onesies.
Have I mentioned how much he LOVES playing with balls? Soccer balls, footballs, tennis balls, bouncy balls...he's obsessed.
He plays soccer all day with his Sabba and CoCo, how did he learn how to kick a ball? I didn't have an hour long session teaching him all these new things he knows. he's brilliant.
Have I mentioned he's a dancer? What a dancer!! it's like he's choreographed each dance to each particular song that happens to come on the radio, He knows when it's appropriate for a slow spin or a quick hop or two. He's brilliant.
We got him a Dog on Saturday, a Labradoodle (long story) but he immediately knew it was his Dog. He ran around calling her "My", He knows how to play tag with her, walk her on her leash ( with assistance) and feed her (also with assistance). He's brilliant!
We named her Daisy, she's going to be a great dog for him.
I have 8 days until this little smarty pants turns 2, and 5 days until his birthday party. I have a long list of things I need to accomplish by Sunday but I honestly want to spend all day holding him, watching sesame street and holding back tears thinking of his baby days. How much I'll miss this cuddling, how i've enjoyed so much watching a little piece of my heart grow up, but at the same time this gut wrenching sadness that it's all happened too fast and I'll never have these same days again.
I hear over and over how much I'll enjoy every stage of life, but I see my husband, my brother, my dad..they don't have these cuddly, gushy, lovey, needy, cute, squishy relationships with their moms (honestly that would be weird). But that mother heart inside me never wants to lose that relationship! I always want him to need me, cuddle me, love me, reach for me, call my name when he needs me, cry for me, all of those things that makes your heart melt.
This is apart of growing up.
No language can express the power, and beauty, and heroism, and majesty of a mother's love. It shrinks not where man cowers, and grows stronger where man faints, and over wastes of worldly fortunes sends the radiance of its quenchless fidelity like a star. ~Edwin Hubbell Chapin

Child Rearing..I. Am. Not. Perfect.
Disclaimer: I am in no means perfect, I do not think I am perfect nor do I think my ways are better then your ways. This is strictly my opinion and I understand some might disagree with me.
I am a strong believer in the scripture that says: "Train up a child in the way he should go,Even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:5-7
I believe this verse is for the modern day christian.
Every night as I lay Julien in his bed to go to sleep I pray over him for the desires of his heart, that the Lord will instill in him an obedient, gracious, loving, kind and patient heart. That he will grow to be a courageous, prophetic, worshiping, praying mighty man of God.
With this prayer I must endure the consequences, He. Is. Strong. Willed.
And with that I strongly believe in..this scripture: He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
Proverbs 13:23-25 :).
Take note: I do not beat my child. I discipline.
I believe in letting our children be creative, letting their active minds get to work. We let Julien bang on the drums, have loud toys, run, jump, climb, scream, laugh, play dangerously in kitchen (don't think into it), brush his own teeth, play with water, have tangled hair, wear cut up jeans...we let our child have freedom, as well as discipline.
That is what I believe is lacking in the modern American home.
Our American culture gives children too much freedom, children are now able to choose their own Gender!? Read Here.
We are allowing Gender Neutral bathrooms in our public schools?! Read Here
I agree with the Author of this Children Choose Gender article, an 18 month old does not know the difference between male and female yet, the parents have some serious directing to do.
I was a Nanny the majority of my Teenage years, I have been in these homes I have seen the other side. This is why I have decided to raise my children the way that I am. I have heard the empty threats "Put that down or you'll get a spanking" 20 minutes later the child still hasn't obeyed and the parent has just left the room, time outs go from 2 minutes to 20 seconds.
The parents of America have become lazy and ignorant.
When they are in public and their child starts raising hell at Denny's they act shocked like it never happens, unfortunately the child just doesn't know any better.
There is no discipline in these homes.
A good friend of mine once told me 'there is no such thing as your child having a bad day, it is you that is having the bad day.' our children feed off of our attitudes, emotions, atmospheres..
Today Julien was cranky from not having a long enough nap before we made it to the restaurant for lunch (wouldn't you be cranky?), he did VERY well for his situation. He was very patient as we waited for the rest of our party and ate as many chips as he could until he got plain BORED. He lasted a good hour and half before it was just too much and we had to leave.
Unfortunately Julien never got to finish that nap, by the time it was 8pm and we were trying to watch a movie at my parents house he was ready to go home. I don't know how many times we had to pause the movie to hear it over his whiny 'i'm tired' cries, so it made me stressed...which made him stressed...which made everyone stressed...which made us go home early.
I have no one to blame but myself.
It is important to give your children artistic expression and freedom to become who God made them to be, but there is a reason you are an adult and God gave you that child, YOU are responsible for who that child becomes. You are the only one who can take credit for that amazing little person. People of America love your children!! But please..don't forget to discipline them, there is a reason you are their parent.

Freed from weary chains...
It is official, I am (again) a stay at home mom.
Oh how I missed the days of snuggling with my JuBean til 9:30 in the morning. Having those days where you actually do nothing but watch movies, the freedom of planning an all day hang out day with your friends, mommy and me dates with other mother friends...
I was a SAHM for 16 months until I took this previous job, I was getting bored and decided I needed something part-time. Unfortunately a few months into the job things turned sour and not so 'part-time', I started missing Julien and our days of freedom and I was sad when I heard he was trying new things without me :(.
3 weeks after posting my last blog 'wishes of a SAHM' I was 'let-go' from my position. I held back my tears of joy and tried to hide the excitement that was welling up inside.
I have so many plans for this season in my life, First and foremost starting up Challah By Ima, homemade fresh Challah available to you in many different flavors for delivery or pick-up!
By starting Challah By Ima hopefully it will help me continue to be a SAHM and soon plan on babe #2?!
Stay tuned....

The wishes and woes of being a mother.
I'm not going to recap, basically Julien is a walking, talking todd almost 2! If you're a mother you know how that is.
My dream is to be a SAHM and care for Julien through his fits, tantrums, and laughs. I want to see him playing in the dirt, gardening and discovering new words. I want to be there for his first peanut butter and jelly, to clean his face before naptime, I want to see him...all day.
I'm working at a roofing company at the reception desk where you would assume the most traffic is and my days are still so lonely without my JuBug by my side. I cope with convincing them to buy a coffee machine so I can have unlimited caffeine to make my day go by faster, I find tedious paperwork to fill my time until the clock strikes 3:30, I zoom (65mph) through the traffic down 635, then 35, then loop 12, untl i hit a dead stop on 408, dare I take grady niblo's back road with speed humps to race to my Juj? Yes..Yes I do.
I've made it, he's either sound asleep and could care less if i'm there or he's distracted with Sabba. But..I don't care if he cares if i'm there or not..I care that i get to see him and watch him play, watch him do his hustle to the fridge for moi moi, I care that I don't miss the WHOLE afternoon and can see his sleepy head after a nap, I care that even tho he's acting too cool for school he probably pee'd in his diaper when he saw me.
My wish to be SAHM, it seems like such a long ways away, there needs to be a way for me to get out of this rut and live happily ever after with my Bug.

Ch ch ch changes (turn and face the strain)
Changes
Changed
Change
Changing..
OH life.
Hunter and I have settled into our jobs new positions, promotions, raises..
We have bought our first car and the next step was to move out of my parents house.
I have lived there for 11 years, I have lived with my parents my entire life, I was NOT ready for this change.
We did the math, the budget, the thoughtful process to see how much we could afford. We were off to apartment hunt.
A lot of thought and prayer went into this decision, we spoke with our marriage counselors, prayed with the community, prayed as a small family and ultimately Hunter and I felt complete peace about this move.
We found an apartment 3 miles from my parents house, 2 bed 1 bath, and 1000+ sq ft.
It's wonderful.
We moved in 2/4/12 and it was bitter sweet. I cried the first 3 days, Julien was having a really hard time transitioning from a house FULL of people to a small apartment with just his Ima and Abba, it was heartbreaking.
When Hunter and I got married there was a severance between my parents and I and I remember sobbing, feeling like I was being ripped away from my parents who have covered me, provided for me, loved me and comforted me, all to be with the man God so eagerly placed in my life. It was joyous time as Hunter and I were beginning our lives together but a sad transition.
Moving into our own place just established that transition even more, not as brutal because I had already gone through the spiritual side of it but sad none the less.
My mom helped us move in and unpack but we didn't see my dad for 3 days, (sat-tues) by Monday Julien had lost it! he wasn't sleeping, he was constantly crying, throwing himself on the floor in little fits, dragging himself across the floor :( we HAD to see Sabba!!
Tuesday he spent all day with my Dad and they played and played by Wednesday morning he was a new kid! He was going to his OWN bed when i said it was time for nap or night night, get under the covers and lay his head down and say night night. Since we have lived in the apartment he has had 3 nights (separately) where he has slept ALL night!
This is a BIG deal! That 1 day with Sabba changed EVERYTHING!
We have settled in, had our housewarming party and are loving life! God is so good to provide! My parents still get to see Julien EVERY day (but maybe saturday)!!
